The Community Economies Collective (CEC) was formed to theorize, represent, and enact new visions of economy. By making multiple forms of economic life viable options for action. Their diverse, engaged scholarly and activist efforts aim to open up the economy to ethical debate and provide a space within which to explore different economic practices and pathways.
Symbiosis is a network of community organizations across North America, building a democratic and ecological society from the ground up. We are fighting for a better world by creating institutions of participatory democracy and the solidarity economy through community organizing, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city.
Our political strategy is to build dual power through these institutions of grassroots democracy. “Dual power” is an approach to revolutionary politics in which ordinary people organize themselves to govern society in parallel and in opposition to the governing institutions of capitalist society.
The Next System Project is an initiative of The Democracy Collaborative aimed at bold thinking and action to address the systemic challenges the United States faces now and in coming decades. Deep crises of economic inequality, racial injustice and climate change—to name but three—are upon us, and systemic problems require systemic solutions.

In whatever way we can, we hope to heal some of them while earning an honest living and sharing the pleasure of working with and/ or living on healthy, functioning ecoysystems.

A social innovation project aimed at a new way of working to improve the way we encounter societal needs. With this project we want to co-create a movement to enable more people to do work that makes their heart beat faster and increase solidarity. Every day we see a world in which there is plenty of work to do, but in which there are not enough jobs. At the same time volunteering is undervalued and different groups of people are experiencing difficulties to enter the labour market. Let’s change this! Possible is currently building on a platform to facilitate people and to appreciate them with daily costs reduction and alternative rewards, so they can sustainably contribute their energy to social projects that have a positive impact on society. By working with recycle and upcycle initiatives we encourage people to consume less and to co-create an economy of sharing.
For more than three decades, the New Economics Foundation’s mission has been to transform the economy so it works for people and the planet. We celebrate – and help to enable – the new economy springing up from below, but we also know that it needs support from above, including a state that prioritises people’s wellbeing and a healthy planet over a misplaced faith in free markets and competition. Bulgaria
The Balkan Ecology Project is a permaculture-inspired, grassroots project based in South Eastern Europe, Bulgaria. Our mission is to develop and promote practices that provide nutritious affordable food while enhancing biodiversity. Our efforts aim to develop thoughtful approaches to food, shelter, community and commerce, while promoting and preserving the unique biological diversity associated with the Balkan region.
We strive to be a demonstration and education site for visitors from all over the world, while hosting courses and events throughout the year and managing a forest garden/permaculture plant nursery. Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement or by dropping in to one of the bi-annual Open Day events.
Baba residence is an initiative which connects urban youth with elderly from diverse Bulgarian villages. Participants, or residents, live in village elderly households for 1 month and work during this time on a project that benefits the life in the village.
DarLimets is an idea that strives to share an ancient grain called Lime. They believe that knowledge and widespread dissemination will bring a very valuable benefit to all of us. Lime is one of the purest, curative and sacred foods, and it would be great to spread this knowledge as far as we can. It is important for more people to be able to afford Lime and to have good health and happiness. That is why they started to cultivate this ancient Zhito and give it away on donation.
Shared management of free rural houses in Bulgaria. “Rent Without Baza” offers various options of relations between owners and tenants in the Bulgarian villages. The site is a national platform for advertisements on landlords, non-cash renting, caring and maintenance, renting houses, village cohabitation, search for grandparents in the village, offering and searching for village work. Approve any ad that would help in a particular human situation in a village and related to someone’s free property.
